December snow blankets the Temple in stillness
In the midst of Rohatsu Sesshin, the Buddhist Temple of Toledo joins Sanghas all over the world practicing deeply during this intensive week-long retreat, commemorating Buddha's enlightenment. Our day begins at 4:45 am and for 16 hours each day, in silence, we sit (zazen), walk (kinhin), engage in liturgies (including formal oryoki meals), do work practice, and receive teachings. With each breath, turning inward like the snow-covered trees surrounding the Temple.
Rinsen Roshi encourages anyone with a pull to the Dharma to send good intentions to those who are in the Zendo this Rohatsu, just as those who are practicing in the Zendo are sending good intentions out to the world_/\_
Throughout this week of Rohatsu sesshin, Rinsen Roshi is teaching on the Lankavatara Sutra. His daily talks will be streamed live on Buddhist Temple of Toledo YouTube channel at 10:30am EST (12/2-12/6). They will also be uploaded daily to the Rohatsu playlist that can be accessed anytime by clicking this button..
If you are interested in learning more about practicing under the guidance of lineage-transmitted teachers amongst a Sangha of noble friends, or in ways to support the Buddhist Temple of Toledo, locally or from a distance, please reach out to us here.
May our practice of turning inward this Rohatsu, be deep like the snow and still like the trees; and may our efforts transform suffering and distress, bring ease and joy, and truly benefit all beings_/\_
On behalf of the Teachers and Clergy, blessings to you and your family. Deep gratitude for your generous and noble practice_/\_
