CD3 Veteran & Health Care Town Hall with former Paratrooper and Army Ranger Congressman Jason Crow organized by WisDems

The road to the US House majority runs through Wisconsin’s third congressional district. That’s why on February 25th, Congressman Jason Crow will be joining us here in Wisconsin to discuss veterans' issues, health care, and real leadership.

Derrick Van Orden hides behind a keyboard and refuses to meet with his constituents face-to-face, refusing to accept any responsibility for his votes to take away health care and food assistance. Congressman Crow will show the 3rd congressional district what a veteran-turned-congressman can do when they're focused on the issues and not the latest Twitter feud. This is an evening you won't want to miss, so make sure to RSVP at this link today!

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has continued its escalation, conducting raids well beyond Minneapolis: Eau Claire (WI), Hudson (WI), and many towns in Minnesota.

Resources for resisting ICE will now be on the ECCD website Resource Page!

DONATIONS FOR NEIGHBORS SHELTERING AT HOME

Eau Claire County Dems are helping to collect food, hygiene items, and monetary donations for Chippewa Valley Neighbors who do not feel safe to leave their homes. Drop off your donations at Shift or at the Democratic Resource Center.  One of our members is coordinating with community aide groups and will use any cash donations to purchase and transport needed supplies. Or make credit card donations using the QR code on the poster. Especially needed are personal hygiene and home items including diapers, baby wipes, soap, body wash, dish soap, disinfectant wipes, toilet paper, paper towels, kids’ toys and crayons.

"How to Cope in These Times" by Lynn Buske, JONAH organizer

These suggestions come from our Mental Health Task Force, from my own eight years navigating justice work and mental health recovery, from JONAH leadership, faith leaders, and from Dr. King himself. They are offered in the hope that something here speaks to you. They may also steer the next steps for those feeling the need to “do something.”

Red_Hat.png

The red tasselled hat, called a nisselue in Norwegian, was a symbol of patriotism and protest against Nazi occupation during the Second World War. Today, sewers, knitters, and crocheters are busy making these hats to show solidarity with those targeted by ICE. Inspired by last week’s Coffee Klatch discussion of the red hats, Nancy Tissing has shared two crochet patterns for making this hat:

The Eau Claire County Democratic Party needs your help to continue working to elect Democratic and progressive candidates to local, state, and national office.

Your financial support funds the work of the Eau Claire County Democratic Party and funds the busy year-round Democratic Resource Center (DRC). To meet and rise above the current unprecedented challenges to our democracy, the Eau Claire County Democrats have increased our involvement and activism many times over with billboards, ads, letters, canvassing, forums, rallies, and protests. We are putting all our financial and volunteer resources behind the important spring local elections and the crucial November midterm.

If you have already donated to our annual fundraiser, thank you for your generosity. If you haven’t had a chance yet to donate, there is still time to do so.
