Every LEAF Day is Earth Day
Join us for Earth Day 2026!
On Saturday, April 18th, we invite you to celebrate Earth Day with us at the Fremont Downtown Event Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. LEAF is one of the co-organizers of Fremont’s Annual Earth Day Fair, alongside the City of Fremont and Washington Health.
This year, we’ll have 20 booths showcasing our work and many of our collaborators and partners. We’ll once again bring our humming honey bees and wriggly worms, and highlight sustainable living by reducing waste through recycling and reuse and by using regenerative agricultural practices in your garden. We’ll have lots of fun activities for kids, including our art circle, a magician, and more.
Earthday.org's theme for 2026 is 'Our Power, Our Planet.™' Environmental progress is built through everyday action—from communities protecting ecosystems to innovators advancing solutions. For Earth Day 2026, we’re mobilizing at scale. Every action counts. Every voice matters. Come join us!
Like in previous years, we’re partnering with youth groups to offer specialist recycling drop-offs. Start collecting school supplies, socks, and bras from friends, students, family, and community and bring what you gathered to LEAF Earth Day.
1) STAPLES Recycling Services Program -> School supplies: crayons, pens, pencils and colored pencils, markers, highlighters, rulers and drafting tools
2) SMARTWOOL Second Cut Program-> Clean socks, all brands, colors, sizes, and materials welcome (merino preferred). Single socks only. Do not roll or pair socks.
3) The Bra Recyclers-> Recycle your new or gently used clean regular bras, sports bras, and nursing bras
Register for "Students for LEAF" Summer Program
Registration is open for Students for LEAF, our flagship 7-week summer program for middle and high school students, and places are going fast!
The program nurtures young people's passion for environmental conservation, regenerative agriculture, science, technology, art and math. We are cultivating the next generation of leaders to tackle global challenges such as food insecurity, water conservation and climate change.
Students will:
Learn sustainable gardening practices – from planting and propagation to composting and soil health.
Observe pollinators up close – including beekeeping and participation in the Bumble Bee Atlas Community Science Project.
Harvest and donate fresh produce – helping local families facing food insecurity through our food bank partnerships.
Get creative with hands-on projects – like botanical illustration, candle-making, and garden-to-table cooking.
Connect with like-minded peers and develop leadership skills in environmental action.
Program Location: LEAF Urban Garden, 38339 Mission Blvd, Fremont
Program Dates: June 22 to August 6 | Mondays & Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
And don't forget about the Earth Day Fair at the Fremont Downtown Event Center on April 18th, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.!
At LEAF, we believe in a world where every community has the knowledge and resources to work in harmony with nature to cultivate a healthier planet. Our urban gardens serve as living classrooms, soil science labs, and community spaces that empower people to learn, connect, and grow together.
