December 11, 2024 | 9:00am - 4:00pm 25.1/A NAVAIR SBIR/STTR Topic Launch Join the NAVAIR Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) Programs Office for this event held in conjunction with the Southern Maryland Tech Bridge. The Topic Launch is an opportunity for businesses of all classifications to interact with NAVAIR SBIR/STTR Programs Office representatives and technical points of contact. Engage one-on-one with topic authors, ask questions about 25.1/A-released topics and learn more about the SBIR/STTR process.

SAVE THE DATE: Friday, January 17, 2025 -The 2025 St. Mary’s County Science and Engineering Fair (SMCSEF) at the USMSM SMART Building. The award ceremony is on the same afternoon. The Science Fair is open to the St. Mary’s County residents, and is the perfect venue for students to share their talents in experimental methodologies, engineering design and testing, and other scientific projects.

The Commissioners of Leonardtown and the Commissioners of St. Mary’s County invite the public to salute America’s Veterans at the Annual Veterans Day Parade on Monday, November 11, 2024, in Leonardtown! The parade starts at St. Mary’s Ryken High School at 10 a.m., proceeds through Town, followed by a Memorial Ceremony in Leonardtown Square. · For Inclement Weather Plan: cancellation notice will be posted on the Town of Leonardtown Facebook Page and the St. Mary’s County Government website.
- Road Closures: Washington Street and Fenwick Street leading into downtown Leonardtown will be closed to traffic from 8 a.m. until noon. Downtown parking and through traffic will be limited. St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office will provide traffic control and parade volunteers will assist with parking.
- Parking Information: Spectators should park at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds, the St. Mary’s County Governmental Center, or the College of Southern Maryland. At the Governmental Center, spectators should use the lots adjacent to the Carter State Office Building (23115 Leonard Hall Drive in Leonardtown).
- Handicapped Parking: Spectators requiring handicapped parking will be allowed to park in the public lot beside the Hair Company. Handicap parking will also be available at the Mattingley Gardiner Funeral Home lot on Lawrence Avenue.

Sabre Systems Receives 2024 Hire Vets Gold Medallion from the U.S. Department of Labor - U.S. Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su recognized Sabre Systems as a recipient of the 2024 HIRE Vets Medallion Award presented by U.S. Department of Labor. Sabre earned the Gold Medallion award for the fifth consecutive year. The HIRE Vets Medallion Program is the only federal award program that recognizes employers who successfully recruit, hire, and retain veterans. Sabre meets rigorous employment and veteran integration assistance criteria, including veteran hiring and retention percentages, dedicated human resource efforts, compensation, and tuition assistance programs. Sabre is passionate about supporting our veteran community and committed to helping ensure they have successful and meaningful careers after their military service.
The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) announces that Jose Gonzalez, RADM Bert Johnston, USN (ret), and Jay Webster have joined the board as its newest directors. The three were voted in at the October board meeting. With 23 volunteer members, the CSM Foundation serves as the fundraising organization of the college by connecting donors and regional partners with students, faculty, and staff to enhance access to higher education, to ensure learners have the resources they need to succeed, and to create educational pathways that improve lives.
