Dear Members,
Illinois physicians renew their licenses every three years, with the next renewal deadline on July 31, 2026. This email has key details to help you keep your license active and in good standing.
What You Need to Know
Watch for Email Notices:Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR) will send renewal reminders to the email address you have on file. Paper notices have largely been phased out. To avoid missing a deadline or risking an unintended license suspension, please check your inbox and spam/junk folders for messages from the @illinois.gov domain.
Fully Digital Renewal Process: All renewal activities are handled through the IDFPR online portal, including uploading required documents, completing attestations, and receiving confirmation of renewal.
Know the Requirements: To renew a medical license, physicians must attest to compliance with state continuing medical education (CME) requirements. Updated CME and state-specific licensing requirements can be found through the Illinois State Medical Society (ISMS).
Taking a few minutes now to verify your email, log into the portal, and familiarize yourself with the requirements will make the next cycle smooth and stress-free.
