DOCY Youth Specialist

Position Summary:

The Dutchtown Opportunity Coalition for Youth (DOCY) engages with youth to reduce their likelihood of being both victims and perpetrators of crime by connecting them to opportunities that pave a way towards graduation and/or employment. DOCY is seeking a team member to lead case management for youth ages 10-17  from the Dutchtown, Gravois Park, and Mount Pleasant neighborhoods.

Career Specialist

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will possess a demonstrated ability to empower clients with significant barriers to obtain and maintain employment. In particular, client populations may include re-entry efforts for ex-offenders, homeless veterans, high school dropouts, mental health and/or substance abuse challenges, recent immigrants, and individuals with annual household incomes under $10,000. This may involve providing a range of supportive services designed to promote self-sufficiency. Key activities include interviewing clients to assess referral opportunities, determining eligibility criteria, aiding in the formulation of short term and long term goals, maintaining regular contact with clients, assisting in developing access to education, employment, and training, following up on retention of employment, and reporting on progress attained by clients enrolled in the program. Bachelor's degree in social work or equivalent experience preferred. Ability to use a computer and reliable transportation are both required for this position.

Housing Specialist

Position Summary:

At Employment Connection "Housing Specialist" is the same as "Housing Case Manager"

 

Housing Specialist will possess demonstrated success in developing supportive housing and services that allow homeless persons, including low-income veterans, to live as independently as possible. Assistance is offered to address three overall goals: achieve residential stability, increase skill levels and/or incomes, and obtain greater self-determination (i.e., more influence over decisions that affect their lives).  Will also provide services to prevent homelessness. This may involve providing a range of supportive services designed to promote housing stability, increased income, and greater self-sufficiency among eligible participants. Key activities include interviewing clients to assess referral opportunities, determining eligibility criteria, aiding in the formulation of short term and long term goals, maintaining regular contact with clients, assisting in developing access to education, employment, and training, providing life skills and financial literacy training, and reporting on progress attained by clients enrolled in the program. Bachelor's degree in social work or equivalent experience preferred. Ability to use a computer and reliable transportation are both required. Supervisory experience and/or an interest in program management a plus to help backup other roles in the housing unit as needed.

Grants Manager

Employment Connection, a local St. Louis nonprofit agency, seeks qualified individuals interested in filling the role of a Grants Manager. Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business administration, English, social work, or equivalent fields required. Ability to use a computer and reliable transportation are both required for this position.
 

The ideal applicant would possess one to three years of experience with grant writing (government grants experience preferred) for nonprofit organizations and be interested in growing into a development role that may include volunteer coordination, community relations, annual report writing, public speaking, fundraising, special events, Board engagement, program evaluation, and web/social media presence. The most important computer skills include word processing, spreadsheets, email, desktop publishing and CRM. Experience with NEON and Instrumentl preferred. This position will work under the general direction of the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer. The best candidate will be able to work independently and bring a sense of initiative and self-sufficiency to the role. The person filling this position must be comfortable interfacing with all levels and functions of a nonprofit organization, both programmatically and administratively.
